Route 43
14 wild Pokémon across 4 encounter methods. 12 trainer battles.
Route 43 Guide
Route 43 is the uphill road to Lake of Rage, remembered for the gate toll and the lead-in to the red Gyarados story.
Travel the route
Route 43 is the climb from Mahogany Town to Lake Of Rage, and it knows something strange is waiting up north. The toll gate, tall grass, fishermen, and one-way ledges make the lake approach feel less like a shortcut and more like a warning.
What to find
Battle Pokémaniacs Ben, Brent, and Ron, Fisher Marvin, Picnicker Tiffany, and Camper Spencer. Pick the Bitter Berry and Max Ether, watch for Flaaffy, Girafarig, Pidgeotto, Mareep, Venonat, Noctowl, and Magikarp in the water, then press on toward the rumors at the lake.
Return with a reason
Return for lake revisits, phone rematches, northern Johto training, and the direct road back to Mahogany after the red Gyarados story points you south again.
