Cherrygrove City Guide
Cherrygrove City is the first real Johto stop, with healing, shopping, the map tour, and the fork north toward [Route 30]({location:route-30}).
Arrive and look around
Cherrygrove feels like Johto's first breath after the grass. The Pokémon Center and Mart are right there when you arrive from Route 29, and the old Guide Gent turns the town into a walking lesson by showing you the Center, Mart, sea, and his house.
What to do here
Take the tour for the Map Card upgrade on your Pokégear, heal before the northern road, and talk around town before you chase Elm's errand. A fisherman gives you Mystic Water, the shore can be fished later, and Route 30 carries you toward Mr. Pokémon's House. On the return trip, your red-haired rival meets you here before you can slip quietly home.
Return with a reason
Return whenever the western routes need a soft landing. Cherrygrove is perfect for early healing, Mart stops, fishing, and the back-and-forth between New Bark, Route 30, and the road toward Violet City.
