Ruins Of Alph Outside Guide

Ruins of Alph Outside is the puzzle field between the routes, where the research angle and the mystery angle start at the same time.

Step inside

The outside of the Ruins of Alph feels like a field trip that got too quiet. Gates from Route 32 and Route 36 lead into puzzle chambers, the Research Center watches the mystery unfold, and the grass around the ruins can turn up Natu and Smeargle.

What to do inside

Start here by reading the signs, visiting the Research Center, and choosing which chamber to approach first. Super Nerd Eric and Psychic Nathan guard parts of the area, Surf opens more water, and the entrances toward Union Cave make the ruins feel connected to Johto instead of sealed away from it.

Return with a reason

Return when field moves open new chambers, when you want Unown progress, or when the quiet outside field feels like the right break between Violet, Union Cave, and the National Park side of the map.

Ways To Move Around

Some parts of this map need a move, or only work one way.

Surf opens water paths here

Water tiles can become paths once you can Surf.

Bring a Surf user after earning Fog Badge if you want every shoreline path.

One-way ledges shape the route

These ledges let you jump down but not climb back up from the same spot.

Look before you hop if you are collecting items or avoiding trainers.
