Vermilion City is Kanto's harbor and fan-club stop, with Surge's Gym, the eastern pier, and easy access to Diglett's Cave and southern routes.
Vermilion is still Kanto's sea gate: sunsets, ships, the Pokemon Fan Club, Lt. Surge's Gym, Diglett's Cave, and the port all crowd around the same salty grid.
Challenge Surge, visit the Fan Club for the Lost Item chain, check the port when ship travel is available, and look for the hidden Full Heal. The fishing is broad here, with Tentacool, Chinchou, Shellder, Tentacruel, and Lanturn depending on rod and version details.
Return for the harbor, the Copycat-to-train errands, Diglett's Cave access, and the southern Kanto routes. Vermilion is one of the easiest Kanto cities to turn into a working base.
Some gifts, paths, and events need the right item, time, badge, or story step first.
This place changes after that story moment.
Move the story forward, then come back here.
This changes once you have enough badges.
Earn more badges, then come back.
Some spots here can move you, change the area, or trigger a special event or service.
This changes once you can wake Snorlax with the radio.
Make sure you have the right radio station ready before you try.
Some parts of this map need a move, or only work one way.
Some small trees or grass blockers can be cleared with Cut.
Bring a Pokémon that knows Cut after earning Hive Badge.
Water tiles can become paths once you can Surf.
Bring a Surf user after earning Fog Badge if you want every shoreline path.
