Route 35 Guide

Route 35 is the north gate out of Goldenrod, feeding National Park and the road toward Ecruteak.

Travel the route

Route 35 is Goldenrod letting you go slowly. The city gate is behind you, National Park is ahead, and the road is full of trainers who make the northbound trip feel properly earned.

What to find

Battle campers, picnickers, Bird Keeper Bryan, Firebreather Walt, Bug Catcher Arnie, Juggler Irwin, and Officer Dirk at night. Pick TM04 and the MysteryBerry, then check the grass for Nidoran, Drowzee, Abra, Ditto, Psyduck by water, and rare Yanma activity. It is also a strong Headbutt route for Caterpie, Metapod, Exeggcute, Butterfree, and Pineco.

Return with a reason

Return for National Park, phone rematches, Yanma checks, and a clean training strip whenever Goldenrod feels too crowded but you still want to stay close.

Some parts of this map need a move, or only work one way.

Cut can open a blocker here

Some small trees or grass blockers can be cleared with Cut.

Bring a Pokémon that knows Cut after earning Hive Badge.

Surf opens water paths here

Water tiles can become paths once you can Surf.

Bring a Surf user after earning Fog Badge if you want every shoreline path.

Roaming And Swarm Hunting

Check nearby routes, caller notes, land and water caveats, and what can move before you chase.

After you share phone numbers, come back here while the swarm is active.

Check your Pokégear map, then hunt on land when one is nearby.

Route changes

They move as you travel

A roaming beast can move to a nearby route when you change areas, and it can also jump somewhere else.

If it is not here anymore, step between nearby routes and check again.

Nearby jumps

Route 34, Route 36

From here, a beast usually moves toward Route 34, Route 36.

Use nearby routes to keep chasing without flying away.

Land only

No Surf encounters

The beasts stay out of Surf encounters, so they do not pop up while you are surfing.

Hunt in grass or on land instead of riding across water.
