Route 38
15 wild Pokémon across 3 encounter methods. 9 trainer battles.
Route 38 Guide
Route 38 is the broad westbound road out of Ecruteak, leading toward Olivine and the farm routes beyond.
Travel the route
Route 38 is where Ecruteak opens into the west. The gate falls behind you, the road bends toward Route 39, and the trainers start preparing you for the Olivine and Cianwood stretch.
What to find
Battle Schoolboy Chad, Lass Dana, Bird Keeper Toby, Beauty Valerie, and Sailor Harry, then pick the daily Berry. The grass has a ranch-country flavor with Magnemite, Farfetch'd, Miltank, Tauros, Snubbull, Rattata, and Raticate, and the phone trainers here can grow into useful rematches.
Return with a reason
Return for the west-coast trainer line, Snubbull or Miltank hunting, and a clean way back into Ecruteak after Olivine pulls you toward the sea.

Look before you hop if you are collecting items or avoiding trainers.
Roaming And Swarm Hunting
Check nearby routes, caller notes, land and water caveats, and what can move before you chase.

If it is not here anymore, step between nearby routes and check again.
