Route 4
6 wild Pokémon across 2 encounter methods. 3 trainer battles.
Route 4 Guide
Route 4 is the eastern Mount Moon exit road, bridging the cave run into Cerulean-side travel.
Travel the route
Route 4 is the bright exhale after Mount Moon. It drops you toward Cerulean City, with enough water, ledges, and trainer fights to make the cave exit feel like a real route instead of a doorstep.
What to find
Battle Bird Keeper Hank, Picnicker Hope, and Picnicker Sharon, pick HP Up, and search for the hidden Ultra Ball. The grass echoes Route 3 with Spearow, Rattata, Jigglypuff, and Zubat, while Surf and fishing add Goldeen and Seaking.
Return with a reason
Return when you want the Mount Moon to Cerulean handoff, the hidden item sweep, or a short northeast Kanto cleanup road with both grass and water.

Ways To Move Around
Some parts of this map need a move, or only work one way.
Surf opens water paths here
Water tiles can become paths once you can Surf.
Bring a Surf user after earning Fog Badge if you want every shoreline path.
One-way ledges shape the route
These ledges let you jump down but not climb back up from the same spot.
Look before you hop if you are collecting items or avoiding trainers.
