Route 34 Guide

Route 34 is the busy northbound road between Ilex Forest and Goldenrod, with the Day Care and a steady trainer stream built right into the trip.

Travel the route

Route 34 is the road where the forest gives way to city life. You leave Ilex Forest, pass the Day Care, cross a trainer-heavy path, and finally see Goldenrod City waiting at the north end.

What to find

Battle Youngsters Samuel and Ian, Picnicker Gina, Camper Todd, Pokéfan Brandon, Officer Keith at night, and the Surf-only Cooltrainers later. Search for hidden Rare Candy and Super Potion, and collect Soft Sand once you can reach the right person. Drowzee, Abra, Ditto, Rattata, and strong Headbutt trees make the route worth lingering on before Goldenrod swallows your attention.

Return with a reason

Return for the Day Care, egg work, phone rematches, Surf-only trainers, and one of the best early-midgame leveling strips in Johto.
