Route 42
11 wild Pokémon across 4 encounter methods. 5 trainer battles.
Route 42 Guide
Route 42 is the eastbound mountain road out of Ecruteak, with river crossings, cave mouths, and the approach to Mahogany.
Travel the route
Route 42 is the mountain road east of Ecruteak City, but it keeps interrupting itself with water and cave mouths. Mount Mortar 1F Outside sits in the middle like a promise that the road will matter more once your movement options grow.
What to find
Battle Pokémaniac Shane, Fisher Chris, and Hiker Benjamin, then gather Pnk Apricorn, Grn Apricorn, Ylw Apricorn, Ultra Ball, Super Potion, and a hidden Max Potion. The grass and water can bring Mankey, Mareep, Flaaffy, Spearow, Zubat, Goldeen, and Seaking.
Return with a reason
Return with Surf and later cave confidence so Mount Mortar becomes more than scenery. The route is also the cleanest mountain line between Ecruteak and Mahogany Town.
