Mt. Moon Guide
Mt. Moon is Yellow’s first cave expedition, full of Zubat, Moon Stones, Rocket trouble, fossils, and one extra Rocket duo near the prize.
Step inside
Mt. Moon begins right after the Route 3 Pokémon Center, and it feels huge compared with everything before it. Ladders drop into lower floors, item balls sit in side chambers, and Team Rocket’s presence makes the cave feel like more than a shortcut.
Explore the place
Explore all three floors before leaving for Route 4. Pick up Escape Rope, Moon Stone, Rare Candy, TM12, HP Up, and TM01; search the lower floor for hidden Ether and another hidden Moon Stone. Fight Rocket grunts, the Super Nerd near the fossils, and Yellow’s extra Rocket duo before choosing either the Dome Fossil or Helix Fossil.
Come back with a reason
Return later if you skipped rooms, want more Clefairy chances, or need the early-cave items. Once you drop out onto eastern Route 4, Mt. Moon becomes a memory until you deliberately come back.
