Oak's Lab Guide

Oak's Lab is Pallet's main destination, giving Kanto's hometown a real reason to matter after the Johto credits have already rolled.

Step inside

Oak's Lab is calmer in Johto's postgame than it was in Kanto's opening hour, but that calm is the point. Scientists still work inside, Oak still watches your progress, and Pallet Town feels less like a museum piece because the lab is alive.

What to do here

Visit Oak when Kanto opens and whenever you want his view on your Pokédex progress. The lab is also the best reason to step into Pallet before choosing between Route 1 and Route 21.

Return with a reason

Return when the postgame points you south, when Pokédex progress needs checking, or when Pallet needs an anchor beyond quiet houses and the sea.
