Route 3
4 wild Pokémon across 1 encounter method. 8 trainer battles.
Route 3 Guide
Route 3 is the trainer-packed road east of Pewter, carrying you from Brock’s badge toward the last rest stop before Mt. Moon.
Travel the road
Leave Pewter City after Brock and Route 3 immediately crowds the path with Bug Catchers, Lasses, and Youngsters. It feels like Kanto’s first real trainer gauntlet: open sky, no town in the middle, and Mt. Moon 1F waiting at the far end.
What to find
Battle through the line instead of dodging everyone; the experience helps before the cave. The grass can turn up Spearow and Jigglypuff, and the nearby Pokémon Center before Mt. Moon is also where the Magikarp salesman offers a very early Magikarp.
Return with a reason
Return if you skipped trainers, want Jigglypuff, or need the Pewter-to-Mt. Moon road again before Fly makes the early map feel smaller.
